Who needs enemies...

Last night I watched a documentary called “Crazy Love”. Has anyone else seen it or heard of it? It’s a true story about a man named Burt Pugach and Linda Riss. It’s your classic “boy meets girl, boy and girl date for a year, girl finds out boy is already married, girl breaks off relationship, boy becomes obsessed, boy hires thugs to beat up and terrorize girl to coax her back into boy’s arms, police won’t do anything to help girl, girl finds other love and becomes engaged, boy then hires other thug to THROW ACID in girl’s face and blinds her, boy goes in and out of jail and psych wards, girl's fiance leaves girl because he sucks, boy still tries to contact girl and send her money, girl says no, boy is on parole and still tries to contact girl, girl’s friends set up a meeting between boy and girl because they are worried that girl is 35 and single and doomed, boy and girl start up relationship again and get married” story.

YEAH. Here’s the thing. So the documentary focuses on the obsession/craziness of the guy, and the general “what the fuck!?” of the girl….no one points out THAT THE FRIENDS HOOKED THEM BACK UP. The women, “friends” of the girls, tell the cameras that they did it, and schemed to do it, but never at all acknowledge how fucked up it is. And they still talk shit about the guy and wonder why she is back with him….WHY, IN GOD’S NAME, DID YOU BRING THEM BACK TOGETHER!? Jesus H., that’s almost more disturbing to me than the fact that they actually got back together.

It’s also funny that the friends’ motivation was that the girl was 35 and single…spinster city, here she comes. How times have changed, for the better.

Epilogue: This is just too good…”then boy gets arrested again for having an affair with a woman half his age, and making violent threats against her but gets acquitted, boy still married to girl after all this”

Even though I kind of just told you the whole story, I would suggest renting/watching it anyway. It's good.

Wow. I'm intrigued. And horrified. I was also taken aback by the friends thing and glad you commented on it. Stupid friends. I promise to never be that stupid friend to you. And we all know that 37 is the true spinster age.
